Organic link building ... music to any webmaster’s ears!
If you’ve just started to build backlinks to your website then you’ve probably realized that link building is often very time consuming and let’s face it, tedious too!
Organic links are those types of links that occur without you having to do anything. So in essence, organic links are usually the result of you creating exceptional content that visitors to your website are compelled to share with others.
It’s therefore no rocket science that you should try to motivate people to organically link to your website as much as you can.
What makes people share links to websites?
The following list is a compilation of some of the most popular types of content that engage readers and have been proven to be effective in generating good organic inbound links.
Make an effort to closely follow industry trends and news.
Then, make sure that you’re one of the first to write about the latest
happenings.
This will kill two birds with one stone, because you will be seen
as the true expert in your niche, plus you’d be making things easier
for other publishers too.
Why so? Because they too will be seen as experts when they get the “scoop” from you and share your article or blog post with their readers and followers!
If done right and consistently, they’ll probably subscribe to your RSS feed and/or newsletter too. How cool is that?
People love taking the easy way out and if they can follow just one website or blog and get all the info they need, they will. So if you consistently announce the latest scoop, they wouldn’t want to miss out on your next ones.
This should be a no brainer. If you want people to link to you, make it as easy as possible for them to do so.
Have social media icons and buttons displayed prominently on your website, so people can easily share your content with others. You can also display the coding that they’d have to use in order to link to your pages. This will especially be helpful to those that do not have any HTML knowledge.
Create how-to pages and tutorials. The easier to follow they are, the better. Adding step by step photos of the process will greatly enhance your page and will make it a backlink magnet!
Take advantage of the power of video by creating short videos and embed them on your website. This will not only make visitors stay longer on your website (always a good thing in the search engines' eyes) but also encourage your visitors to share and link to your pages. People LOVE sharing videos they’ve enjoyed watching!
